ATEX (Advanced Technological Extru-sions) srl, Settala, Italy, has introduced a new generation of meltblown wipes. Executives said polypropylene is anti-allergic and antibacterial and can absorb up to seven times its weight of water-based liquid, and up to 10 times its weight of oil-based solutions. The microfibers are soft in a wet state as well as a dry state. ATEX executives said meltblown shows a higher mech-anical resistance when wet as opposed to spunlace wipes. Other new developments include meltblown wipes that are abrasive, strong, half hydrophilic and half hydrophobic, colored and perfumed. The company has three production facilities in Italy and the U.S.
